A ceremony was held at the Support Command to mark the deployment of Contingent XVI EOD, which consists of 21 soldiers who will join NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence mission assigned to the multinational brigade at Camp Adazi in Latvia.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defense Pirro Vengu, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Arben Kingji, the Commander of the Support Command Colonel Shkëqim Çela and family members of the soldiers of the contingent.
In his remarks, Commander Çela praised the participants for their participation and addressed Contingent XVI, expressing his confidence in their ability to continue the path set by previous contingents.
Pirro Vengu, Minister of Defense, praised the sacrifice of the contingent members and the unwavering support of their families for international security and peace: “Your sacrifice and that of your families, whom I greet today with great respect, is highly appreciated by us, your fellow citizens and the homeland. Minister Vengu wished you a successful and fruitful mission.
Vengu noted that EOD capabilities are now considered a national asset.
Major Algert Lala, Commander of Contingent XVI, said on behalf of the contingent that they will represent and promote the values of our Armed Forces through discipline and professionalism in this mission.
